Join us on a journey to witness firsthand the transformative work of the See Beyond Foundation. Today, we'll follow our dedicated staff as they visit some of our beneficiaries in their communities.
Morning:
- Community Center: Our day begins at a bustling community center in a rural area. Here, we meet with a group of young people who have received educational support from the foundation. We observe as they participate in a computer literacy workshop, learning essential skills for the digital age.
- Vocational Training: Next, we visit a vocational training center where individuals with disabilities are learning valuable skills for the workplace. We watch as they practice carpentry, sewing, and other trades. The participants are enthusiastic and determined, eager to gain the skills they need to achieve financial independence.
- Assistive Technology Workshop: We then visit a workshop where individuals are learning to use assistive technology devices. These devices can help people with disabilities to communicate, access information, and perform daily tasks more independently. We observe as participants learn to use screen readers, speech-to-text software, and other assistive technologies.
- Physical Therapy Session: We witness a physical therapy session where an individual with a physical disability is working with a therapist to improve their mobility and strength. The therapist is patient and encouraging, helping the individual to reach their goals.
Afternoon:
- Home Visits: We spend the afternoon visiting several beneficiaries in their homes. We meet with a family who has received medical assistance from the foundation. The parents express their gratitude for the support they have received in caring for their child with a disability.
- Community Garden: We visit a community garden project supported by the foundation. Here, we see individuals with disabilities working together to grow fresh produce. The garden provides a source of food and income for the community, while also fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment.
- Support Group Meeting: We attend a support group meeting for individuals with disabilities. The group provides a safe and welcoming space for participants to share their experiences, offer support, and learn from each other. We witness the power of community and the importance of connection.
Evening:
- Cultural Event: We attend a cultural event organized by the foundation. The event features performances by individuals with disabilities, showcasing their talents and celebrating their achievements. The atmosphere is vibrant and inspiring, and it is clear that the foundation is making a significant difference in the lives of its beneficiaries.
